Filmco Ltd recycles post-use polythene plastic film from commercial, retail, industrial and agricultural markets, recovering valuable plastic raw material for re-use in the international plastics manufacturing industry.

We have made a significant investment in polythene film sorting, washing and drying systems and the Filmco process is regarded as one of the most advanced plastic film washing facilities operating today. The company is based in Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary and owns a modern 40,000 square feet facility.  This facility was acquired in 2007 and is Ireland’s only permitted waste farm plastics recycling plant, with an authorized capacity of 50,000 tones per annum.

The difficult nature of LLDPE (linear low density polythene) film has given rise a number of in-house innovations unique to Filmco: our in-house process design and engineering capabilities have enabled us to identify the best available technologies, whilst developing systems specific to the demanding requirements of the Irish plastic film waste market. Other innovations, such as our water treatment and recovery system, which recovers and re-uses 100% of the system’s wash-water, demonstrates the Filmco’s commitment to cost efficiency and environmental best practice.
